Israel Taxi Prices 2026 — The Official Tariff, Explained

Taxi prices in Israel are set by the government-regulated Ministry of Transport tariff (effective April 1, 2026): a fixed initial charge, distance-and-time metering at Tariff A/B/C by the hour, and only the surcharges fixed in the order — booking, airport, waiting and tolls. The fares shown are an estimate only, based on distance, travel time and the official Ministry of Transport tariff. The final fare is set by the meter and may vary with the time of day, day of week, traffic, the actual route, luggage and authorized supplements.
How the Israeli taxi meter works (2026 reform)
Every metered ride starts at ₪12.46. The meter then accrues BOTH distance and time simultaneously, at a rate set by the time of day — plus a long-distance surcharge of ₪1.84 per km beyond the first 10 km.

What surcharges are legal — and what are not?
Legal extras: the airport fee, booking fee, waiting time, and actual toll-road costs. There is no charge for luggage or for a third or fourth passenger — those supplements were abolished and may not be charged. Anything else — "air-conditioning fees", inflated flat rates quoted at the curb, "holiday surcharges" beyond Tariff C — is not legal. Booking ahead with a reputable station that shows you the full estimate protects you from all of it.
Tipping, payment and receipts
Tipping is not expected in Israeli taxis (rounding up is appreciated). Drivers accept cash and, with Bazman Taxi, international credit cards. Always ask for a receipt — or book with us and get your estimate in writing before the ride.
