Taxi from Ben Gurion Airport to Nazareth

Updated

From the arrivals hall to the hills of the Lower Galilee.

A taxi from Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) to Nazareth covers about 114 km to the north. If you ask for the Road 6 toll road, the ride ends on Road 75 past Migdal HaEmek. The toll-free way runs through Wadi Ara and Afula and climbs into the city on Road 60. Bazman Taxi drops you at your hotel, at a pilgrim house by the Basilica of the Annunciation or in neighbouring Nof HaGalil, at a fixed price set before you land. The driver follows your flight.

Two roads north to Nazareth

Leaving the airport, the driver heads north on Road 40. If you ask for the toll road, the ride joins Road 6, the cross-Israel highway, and stays on it to the Tel Kashish interchange near Yokneam. Road 77 then runs east to the Yishai interchange at Ramat Yishai, and Road 75 carries on past Nahalal junction, just north of Migdal HaEmek and through Yafia, entering Nazareth from the west.

Without Road 6, the route keeps to toll-free roads and is a few kilometres longer. It follows Road 4 north to Hadera, then Road 65 inland through Wadi Ara, past Megiddo junction and across the southern Jezreel Valley to Afula. From Afula, Road 60 runs north through the tunnels under Mount Precipice and reaches the city from the south.

Road 6 is a toll road. On a metered ride, the official taxi price order adds a fixed supplement when the ride uses it at the passenger’s request. When we give you a fixed price, we tell you whether it includes the toll.

Drop-off points in and around Nazareth

Many of the city’s streets are small and winding, some with no exit, and signposting is patchy. Send the hotel name or a map pin on WhatsApp and the driver heads for the right entrance.

  • The Basilica of the Annunciation

St Joseph’s Church stands beside it. Casa Nova, the pilgrims’ hostel of the Franciscan Custody, is opposite on Casa Nova Street.

  • Paul VI Street

Hotels such as the Legacy give their address on this street. Send the hotel name and we plan the stop at its entrance.

  • Mary’s Well and St Gabriel’s Church

The square where Old City walking tours begin. The Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, also called St Gabriel’s, is about 130 m from the fountain.

  • Mount Precipice

The clifftop lookout on the southern edge of the city, facing the Jezreel Valley with Mount Tabor and Mount Gilboa beyond. Road 60 from Afula passes through tunnels beneath it.

  • Nazareth Village

The open-air museum on the outskirts of the city that recreates Galilean village life of the first century.

  • The three hospitals

The Nazareth Hospital, also called the English Hospital, and the French and Italian hospitals, all run by the city’s Christian community.

  • Nof HaGalil

A separate city overlooking Nazareth from the east, called Nazareth Illit until 2019. Road 75 runs along the boundary between the two, so write which city your address is in.

From your flight to a Nazareth address

  1. Send the flight and the hotel

Book with the flight number, the name of your hotel or guesthouse, and how many passengers, large suitcases and trolley bags are travelling.

  2. The driver tracks the landing

If the flight lands early or late, the pickup moves to the actual landing time.

  3. Bags first, then the meeting point

Once you are through passport control and have your luggage, the driver calls or writes on WhatsApp to agree where you meet. Our Ben Gurion arrival guide walks through the terminal.

  4. To the door, or the nearest street

Outside the Old City the taxi stops at your door. For an Old City guesthouse, it stops at the nearest street a car can use.

Pilgrim groups, families and wheelchair users

A pilgrim group with a lot of luggage can travel together. Give us the passenger count and the number of large suitcases and trolley bags, and dispatch matches the vehicle with you by phone: a large taxi, or a minibus or coach from our group and special services.

Child seats for every age come with the car when you write the children’s ages in the booking, as described on the child seat page. For a wheelchair user we send a vehicle with a lift; book it in advance, a day ahead if you can.

If you move on to the Sea of Galilee later in your trip, book that ride on its own; the page on the taxi to Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee covers the route.

Questions and answers

How much is a taxi from Ben Gurion Airport to Nazareth?

The fixed price depends on the time, the vehicle and whether you stay in Nazareth or in Nof HaGalil, and we send it on WhatsApp before you fly. If you ask for the Road 6 toll road, we tell you with the price whether the toll is included. The calculator on this page gives the official meter estimate for the 114 km.

Is Nof HaGalil the same place as Nazareth?

No. Nof HaGalil is a separate city overlooking Nazareth from the east, called Nazareth Illit until 2019. Write the city name with the street so the driver heads to the right one.

Can the taxi reach our guesthouse inside the Old City?

Usually not to the door, because most Old City lanes are too narrow for a car. The driver stops at the nearest point a car can reach and you walk the last part. Send the guesthouse name and a map pin on WhatsApp so we can work out the closest stop.

Will the driver take Road 6 to Nazareth?

Only if you ask for it. Otherwise the route runs north on Road 4 to Hadera, then on Road 65 through Wadi Ara and on Road 60 from Afula. When we give you a fixed price, we tell you whether it includes the toll.

Our flight lands on Saturday morning. When can we leave for Nazareth?

We keep Shabbat, so the ride leaves after Shabbat ends on Saturday evening. The card on this page shows this week’s Shabbat times for Nazareth.

Can a whole pilgrim group travel from the airport in one vehicle?

Often, yes, in a minibus or a coach. Send the number of passengers, large suitcases and trolley bags, and dispatch matches the vehicle with you by phone.

When should we leave Nazareth for our flight home?

The Israel Airports Authority asks passengers to arrive three hours before departure (opens in a new tab), and the airport is about 114 km away. We set the pickup time with you; for an early flight, book the day before through our Ben Gurion Airport taxi page.
